Equipment

  • 1 cooking pan

Ingredients

  • 1 cup water
  • 1 cup caster sugar
  • 7 roses
  • 0,5 lemon

Instructions

  • Pull the leaves off the roses and leave them for an hour, allowing any insects to crawl away.
  • Combine the rose petals, water, and sugar in a saucepan. Bring the mixture to a boil, stirring occasionally to dissolve the sugar.
  • Squeeze half the lemon and stir the juice into the syrup. Let the mixture stand for at least 4 hours, even overnight.
  • Sterilize the bottle by boiling it in a pan of water for five minutes. Then, let the bottle dry on a clean tea towel.
  • Strain the syrup and pour it into the sterilized bottle the next day.

Notes

Store the rose syrup in a spotless bottle in the refrigerator. It will then keep for weeks.
