Tea jelly

With only 100 calories per serving, this is an excellent dessert to satisfy your sweet tooth after dinner.

Ingredients
  

  • 2 tea bags
  • 3 sheets gelatin (or a bit less than 1 tablespoon powdered gelatin or 1 teaspoon agar agar)
  • 1 ⅔ cup water
  • ¼ cup granulated sugar
  • fresh fruit i.e. passion fruit and strawberries

Instructions
 

  • Put the sugar in a saucepan with the water, heat, and stir occasionally until the sugar is dissolved. Meanwhile, soak the gelatin in cold water.
  • Allow the tea to steep in the warm sugar water for a few minutes, and remove the tea bags.
  • Squeeze out the gelatin and stir it into the sweet tea with a whisk. Pour the tea jelly in glasses, let them cool down to room temperature then place them in the refrigerator for the jelly to set. This will take about 3-4 hours.
  • Before serving, garnish the tea jelly with the fresh fruit of your choice.

Notes

Prepare the tea jelly up to 2 days in advance. Cover the glasses with kitchen foil and add fresh fruit right before serving.
