This simple yet tasty dessert is very light and not too sweet. Moreover, this tea jelly contains only 100 calories per serving!

This is a great dessert if you don't feel like a heavy dessert (like this chocolate ganache cake, which I can also recommend!) but still want to satisfy your sweet tooth after dinner.
Ingredients tea jelly dessert
For this easy dessert, you will need the following:

Tea - the main ingredient for this dessert. Therefore, choose your favorite tea. The subtle taste of herbal, white, or flavored green tea goes best with this dessert, but if you prefer (flavored) black tea, go for it!
Sugar - This recipe uses very little sugar, but it is essential for a slightly sweet taste. White granulated sugar works well.
Water and gelatin - This is jelly dessert, so gelatin is a key ingredient. I prefer to work with gelatin sheets, but you can also use powdered gelatin or even agar agar.
Fresh fruit - I love to serve the tea jelly with passion fruit, strawberries, raspberries, and/or blueberries. You can also use fresh herbs, such as mint or thyme, to garnish the dessert.
Preparing the gelatin dessert
Preparing this dessert only takes ten minutes, so that's almost nothing! Since it's a gelatin dessert, it needs to set in the fridge for a few hours.
Top tip: You can prepare this dessert in advance—a day ahead is fine. All you have to do before serving is garnish it with fresh fruit of your choice.
Frequently asked questions

Yes, replace the gelatin with agar agar to make this recipe vegan.
The tea jelly will keep in the refrigerator for at least two days. Cover with a beeswax cloth or plastic wrap, for example. Do not garnish the dessert with the fresh fruit until just before serving.
Ensure the gelatin has been squeezed well and the tea is no longer boiling hot. Too high a temperature can reduce the effectiveness of gelatin.
That depends on your taste! Fresh fruity teas, such as light herbal tea or green tea with lemon or peach, work well. White tea is also delicious.
You can replace the sugar with honey, agave syrup, or a sugar substitute such as stevia. This will change the flavor of the dessert.
