If you're seeking a refreshing, tropical beverage, this Lime Smoothie is your perfect companion. Combining the zesty brightness of lime, the natural sweetness of banana, and the creamy richness of coconut, this smoothie offers a delightful balance of flavors. It's ideal for a quick breakfast, a post-workout refuel, or a midday pick-me-up.

Ingredients

  • 1 ripe banana: Provides natural sweetness and a creamy texture, eliminating the need for added sugars.
  • 1 lime (juice and zest): Adds a vibrant citrus flavor and a boost of vitamin C.
  • 400 ml coconut drink: Offers a light, tropical base without the heaviness of coconut milk.

Optional Add-ins:

  • Handful of spinach: Incorporates additional nutrients and fiber without altering the taste significantly.
  • 1 tablespoon chia seeds: Enhances the smoothie with omega-3 fatty acids and protein.
  • Ice cubes: Chills the smoothie for a refreshing experience.

How to Store Smoothies

While this lime smoothie is best enjoyed fresh, you can store any leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 24 hours. Before consuming, give it a good shake or stir, as separation may occur. For longer storage, consider freezing the smoothie in ice cube trays and blending the cubes when ready to drink.

The same goes for my other smoothie recipes, like this strawberry beetroot smoothie and this blueberry pineapple smoothie.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I use coconut milk instead of coconut drink?

Coconut milk is richer and creamier than coconut drink, which may result in a way heavier smoothie. If you prefer a lighter texture, stick with coconut drink.

Can I add protein powder to this smoothie?

Absolutely! Adding a scoop of your favorite protein powder can make this smoothie more filling and suitable as a post-workout snack. I recommend natural or banana-flavored protein powder.
